Mr. Steorts was united in marriage in April of 1950 to the former Phyllis Brown, the mother of his children. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the 546th Army Air Corp Bomb Squadron in the European Theatre and flew in the Normandy Invasion as an Air Officer. He worked many years as a Mechanical Engineer in the chain manufacturing industry. Mr. Steorts was a member of the V.F.W. #10167 and the Moose Lodge, both in Holiday, Florida. Jack enjoyed fishing and boating with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Gayle (Doug) Walters, and Tom (Shirley) Steorts, both of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara A. (Greg) Edenhauser, of Yorkville, IL, Beverly (Mike) Resner, of Oswego, IL, Patty (Bill) Brown, of Sheridan, IL, Sue (Ron) Walker, of Yorkville, IL, Jim Steorts, of San Diego, CA, and Michael (Alicia) Steorts, of Somonauk, IL; his 18 grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Steorts, and his brother Gene Steorts.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
