: COOK, ABNER: Pvt., Co. B. born abt 1841. Prior service, Co. C, 14th Va Militia. Farmer, age 20 in 1861. Enlisted in Winchester, 3/10/1862. Absent 1/1/1863-2/28/1863, from wound received 1/20/1863, accidentally. Captured at Lost River, Hardy County, WV, 5/5/1863. Sent to Winchester, then to Wheeling, WV. Confined at Atheneum Prison, 5/11/1863. Description: age 22, 5' 8 3/4", light complexion, light hair and hazel eyes, a farmer residing in Hardy County, WV. Transferred to Camp Chase, 5/13/1863. Confined at Camp Chase,5/14/1863. Transferred to Point Lookout, 11/30/1863. Confined to Point Lookout (Maryland), 12/4/1863. Paroled and exchanged, 11/1/1864. Died at Greensboro Hospital No. 12, Greensboro, NC 6/14/1865, chronic diarrhea. Buried; Confederate Section, Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield, WV.
