Presley is the son of Andrew Lunsford and Jane Gillilan. He was the 2nd son born to this couple and one of 8 known children. At the age of 20 he enlisted as a Private, in Company G, 2nd Regiment, Virginia Cavalry. He was promoted to Sergeant on 31 Dec 1862.
On 20 Oct 1863 he married Martha Campbell in Kanawha, Cabell, West Virginia. He may have been on a furlough at the time. He returned to his unit shortly thereafter. He and Martha had no children.
Presley was killed in action on 21 Jul 1864 at Winchester, Virginia "while fighting the Rebels."
I have not located his burial place, but want him to be remembered for his service to our country.
He was a young man of 23 years when he died.
