On 30 November 2016, Sally Ann Lewis (“Sallyann”) passed from this world following a long illness. She died after a long battle with ovarian cancer at the Capital Care Hospice center in Providence Hospital, Washington, DC.
Sallyann was born on 21 May 1937 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Charles Joseph Stephen Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Freeburn. She graduated from Manchester High School, in Connecticut where she grew up. After high school she joined the US Army and worked as a clerk typist and married her husband at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She then moved to the DC Metro area and spent most of her later years in and around the Greenbelt, Maryland area.
Sallyann was retired from the Olin Corporation where she worked as an administrative manager for 16 years. Sallyann is survived by her son Dana Eric DeNike of Baltimore and her ex-husband Kenneth E. DeNike of Greenville, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her other son Daniel Anthony DeNike who died in a boating accident. Her estate is being managed by her longtime friend Mark Stickels.
