Obituary for Shirley Lorraine Houston

Shirley Houston, 82, of Corydon passed away on November 9, 2017 at Corydon Specialty Care.

Shirley was born on October 21, 1935 to Clarence and Lela (Moss) Ballentine in Perry, Iowa. She attended school in Minburn and graduated from Minburn High School with the class of 1954.

Shirley was united in marriage to Ernest Oliver Houston on September 22, 1955 in Montezuma, Iowa.

Shirley was an amazing cook. Anyone who ever worked for Oliver remembers her wonderful meals. She loved quilting and made each of her daughters and every new grandchild a beautiful quilt. She was also an amazing housewife and mother. She always had snacks ready when the kids came home from school.

Shirley loved doing things for others and never met a stranger. April fools was one of her favorite days. She loved playing pranks on people almost as much as she loved scaring them.
