Lucas John De Ford, 27, of Black River Falls, passed away Saturday, Oct 28, 2017 in Black River Falls. He was born Aug 9, 1990, in Ashland, the son of Marquito L and Ava Marie (Toman) De Ford.

In 2008, he graduated from Ashland High School and he was on the Ashland High School Basketball team. He worked for the Coca Cola Company in Bemidji, Minn., Ashley Furniture in Arcadia, and currently was working at the Cranberry Marsh, in Brockway. Lucas worked with the Bad River Trails Program and was a member of the Native American Club. He enjoyed going to Pow Wows, playing basketball with friends and family, enjoyed nutrition and being healthy. He was very polite, courteous, and kind. Lucas loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Ava Marie De Ford, Bemidji; father, Marquito L. De Ford Sr, WI; two daughters, Ava Marie and Olivia De Ford; a brother, Marquito L (Virginia) De Ford Jr., Black River Falls; three sisters, Angelique (Tyler) Evans, Bonney Lake, WA, Brandi (Clint) Brzezinski, Milwaukee, and Kateri De Ford, Odanah; five uncles, Robert (Caroline) Powless, Red Cliff, Jeff (Lisa) Toman, Odanah, Daniel (Penny) Powless, Odanah, Samuel Powless, Odanah, and Peter (Lori) Powless, Odanah; two aunts, Robin (Siaki Leoso) Powless, Odanah and Theresa Powless, Odanah; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Antoine De Ford and grandparents, Adeline and Robert Powless Sr and John E Toman.

A visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at the Bad River Community Center. A traditional service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Traditional services will continue at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, with Sonny Smart officiating. Interment will take place in the Odanah Cemetery.
