MANSFIELD: FLORENCE MAE SNIPES, age 92, of Mansfield passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Crystal Care Center following a long illness.

She was born November 29, 1924 in Crooksville, Ohio the daughter of James and Nancy Ellen (Parsley) Rowland.

Florence spent most of her time as a homemaker.

Florence was very religious and loved the Lord. She enjoyed her active social life at Crystal Care where she was a resident the last six years. Her favorite activities included bingo, coloring and drawing and playing cards, especially rummy. Florence found great peace sitting outside on the porch enjoying God’s creation, often with her crochet in hand.

She dearly treasured her family leaving behind nieces and nephews Katy (Paul) Wehinger, Fran (Tony) Oroson, Charles Rowland, James (Rose) Rowland, Jerry (Joyce) Rowland, David (Mary) Rowland, Ellen Varnes, Jewell Friends, Sandy (Gene) Shipman and Karen (Ron) Corns; a brother-in-law Robert Frazier, and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Snipes, daughter Naomi Mae Johnson, siblings Kenneth Rowland, Russell Rowland, Louise Fraizer and Goldie Stevens and a niece Maxine Kinney.

Florence’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Crystal Care Center for their excellent care and for simply loving Florence as one of their own.

Friends may call Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pastor Glenn Phillips will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
