BASILE, La. (Spl.) -- Leo Augustus Spears, 65, a Basile merchant, died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Kinder clinic.
The body was at the family residence in Basile. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the First Baptist church of Basile, with the Rev. Charles Magruder, pastor, officiating.
Burial is to be in the Griffin cemetery at St. Landry community, with the Ardoin funeral home of Kinder in charge.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Miss Jane Spears of Lake Charles; one stepson, Eugene Hochendel of Baton Rouge; one brother, Jimmy Spears of Placquemine; and one grandchild.
Mr. Spears was a veteran of World War I.
