Chester E. Wright, 88, of Sevierville, Tenn., passed away of natural causes on Friday, September 13, 2013. He was born May 13, 1925, in Indian Rock, Va., the son of the late Morris and Bessie Starkey Wright. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946, before beginning his 40 year career in the rock quarry business with E. Dillon and Company. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wright; and his brothers and sisters, Kenneth, Wilbur, Dewey, Marcella Coffey and Hazel Luckado. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ardelia Hodges Wright; sons, Larry (Diane) Wright, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Morris (Mary) Wright, of Sevierville, Tenn.; daughter, Cathy (Larry) Taylor, of Zebulon, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, William (Lillian) Wright, of Lexington, Va., Hamid (Janet) Wright ,of Austin, Texas, Rena Tolley and Norma Friend, of Buchanan, Va., and Esther (Orville) Martin, of Roanoke, Va. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev.
