He retired after twenty-six years serving in the United States Air Force and an additional nineteen years at Foster Farms. Doug lived life to his fullest. He often rode the many bike paths of Merced up until age 81. In addition he passionately loved boating, fishing, hunting, gardening and especially traveling with his devoted wife, Thelma of sixty-two years.
Doug is survived by his wife, Thelma; son, Mark Vaughn (Janice); daughters, Martha Silva (Bill) and Stacey Weaver (Randy); proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Troy (Becky), Thomas (Amber), Tessa (Jesse), Jason (Stefani) Jennifer (Brad), Brandon, Matt; ten great grandchildren, Caleb, Cailey, Bradley, Hali, LeiLani, Adalee, Hannah, Owen, Ruby and Charlie; sisters, Lois Ann and Willa Sue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Amy Vaughn, step father, Wilson Belcher, sister, Juanita Hallis, brothers, Brady and Clyde Vaughn and granddaughter, Amy Wayne.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 on Monday November 6, 2017 at Central Presbyterian Church Merced, California.
Burial will be held at 2:00 on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery Santa Nella, California.
