James C. Dockery, Born May 23, 1939 departed this life, Tuesday, November 7. 2017.

Clay was born in Dandridge, Tennessee and spent his entire life in and around Dandridge and Newport areas. Clay began his work career with Odom Construction Company at an early age and remained with them for approximately 37 years. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Clay enjoyed working hard as could be seen through his hobbies of hunting, fishing, and most of all gardening. He also enjoyed hours of time working Jig-Saw puzzles.

Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Paul OP Dockery, Sr. and Alta Cuberson Dockery; late wife, Margaret Carr Dockery; and brothers, Burn Sr. and Paul “Rabbit” Dockery.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wilson Dockery; step-sons, Walter and Richard Wilson; step-daughters, Victoria (Roger) Ramsey and Sherry Cole; step-grandchildren, Justin Cole, Kailyn Dockery, Raven, Kelsey, Conner, Jaida, Ethan, Dorovan, Betthany, and Jordan Carr; brothers, Carl, Joseph Sr., Bobby Sr., Arthur and Wayne all of Newport and Dandridge, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Myers of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Patricia Dockery of Newport, Charlotte Woods of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Theresa Dockery of Newport; and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 11, 2017 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Gum Springs Union Cemetery.
