Mr. Charles Warren "Buck" Whisnant passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC. He was born October 15, 1926 in Polkville, NC , to Annie Pendelton Whisnant and Hubert E. Whisnant. His family moved to Six Points a few years later. He attended Ellenboro High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. He started barbering while he was a Seaman First Class in the Navy from November 1944 to July 1946, but was best known for his barber shop at Six Points from 1947 to 1991 with hundreds of very loyal customers over those 44 years.

Buck was a hard-working business man who seemed to never stop working, but he also found plenty of things to enjoy, such as his garden and "famous" tomatoes, hunting and fishing, and boating and skiing at Lake James where he spent years of summer weekends with his family and best friends, Bill and Sara Causby. He also loved spending time at the family beach house at Surfside Beach.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Wynelle Greene Whisnant, and their triplett infants born in 1949; his parents and his brothers, Carol Whisnant, Herman Whisnant, H. E. (Hugh) Whisnant; sister, Nell Whisnant Willis.

He is survived by son, Charles Kimball Whisnant and wife Teri; daughters, Tracy Whisnant Davis and husband Steve; Pamela Whisnant Harrill and husband Tony, and Dianne Whisnant Lurie and husband David; grandchildren, Adam Lurie, Jay Lurie and wife, Brittney; Tyler Harrill and wife , Anna; Rebecca Whisnant, Lauren Whisnant, Paul Davis; great-grandchildren, Aiden Lurie, Wilkin Lurie, Sawyer Harrill, Tucker Harrill; and brothers, Robert Joseph Whisnant, Phillip Donald Whisnant and wife, Kay; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and his close friend, Helen Bushong.

The funeral service will be held at three o'clock Saturday in the Race Path Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt, Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Randall Cooper officiating. Visitation will be in the Sanctuary from 1 until 2:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living, their staff and all of his friends there, especially J. D. McFarland, who improved the quality of his life while he was there, and the family would also like to thank the medical team at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, and the staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for the care they provided during the last few weeks.

Memorials may be made to Race Path Baptist Church, 1171 Race Path Church Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
