Ord — Bertha Edwards, 97, of Ord died Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church in Ord. The Rev. Jim O'Kane will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School.
Mrs. Edwards was born May 6, 1894 at Ord to John and Minnie Waldman Meese. She grew up in the Ord area.
She married John Edwards on Sept. 6, 1920 at Grand Island. They lived in Iowa for a short time before returning to the Ord area where they farmed. She had worked at the Farmers Store in Ord for many years as a clerk. After retirement they moved to Lake Ericson and later to the North Loup Community.
Mr. Edwards died in 1989.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, altar Society and was very active in the North Loup Legion Auxiliary 285.
She was survived by five daughters, one son, one sister and 30 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandsons, three brothers and a sister.
