Henry Hilton Poindexter, 75, of Carthage was born on September 1, 1942, in San Augustine County, Texas to Eli William and Ora Stringer Poindexter. He attended school in Chireno and later at Panola College in Carthage. He served in the U.S. Army for over 11 years, including the Berlin Crises and Vietnam. Hilton married Martha Adare on July 10, 1969, in El Paso. He worked in law enforcement for over 30 years at the Harris County Sheriff's Dept., Sabine Co. Sheriff's Dept., City of Pineland, and Panola County Sheriff's Dept. He was a member of the Gary Masonic Lodge. Hilton moved to Carthage in 1974, from Pineland and was a member of Carthage Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, E.J., Bill, and Lavon Poindexter; and sisters-in-law, Barbara, Sally, and Lizzie Poindexter.
