John D. Baxter, 82 of Berlin Heights, died early Tuesday morning, Janurary 26, 1999, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, after a sudden illness. He was born April 20, 1916, in Steuben, Ohio, and was a 1934 graduate of Monroeville High School. He had lived in the Berlin Heights area for more than 60 years. He was an avid antique car buff and was a member of Car Coddlers of Ohio. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ of Berlin Heights and also attended West Heartland United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lucindy (Deskins), to whom he was married 33 years; one daughter, Nancy Hall of Portsmouth; one sister, June Doerner of Milan; two grandchildren; One great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Tische; his parents, Arthur and Marjorie (Ryerson) Baxter; one brother, Beers Baxter; and four sisters, Joy and Jeanette Baxter, Helen Diringer and Annabel Settles. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St, Berlin heights, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Carl Fannin officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
