Joe William Bowman Jr. was born on Sept 23, 1935 in Colorado City, Texas and died peacefully on Oct 29, 2017 in Reno, Nevada with his daughter by his side.

Joe grew up in Salinas and Marysville among many other places. He graduated from Lassen High School in 1953 and then joined the United States Marine Corps. Joe was discharged on October 1, 1957 after serving 4 years. Soon after Joe joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 393 where he worked in different areas all over the country and even in Vietnam during the 1968 Tet Offensive, until he retired in 1993. Joe married Deba Bowman in Reno on June 12, 1970 and has been a Reno resident for 45 years.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joe Bowman Sr. and Wilma Mcatee; his beloved wife: Deba Bowman; his son: William Bowman; step son: Mike Bowman; brother: Lawrence Bowman; and sister: Merle Hall. Joe is survived by sister: Juanita Guenaga; son: Brad Bowman; daughter: Katie Lynch; step daughters: Cheryl Purtill (Garry) and Chris Pulliam (Dave); step son: Matt Bowman; grandchildren: Tina, Heidi, Zachary, Dakota, Shane, Christopher, Emily, Taylor, Chloe and Sam. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

It is difficult saying goodbye to such a loving dad, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend. He enjoyed taking trips out to the desert, spending time with his friends and family, listening to old time country music and drinking his Bud Light! He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held on Sat, Nov 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Walton's, Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary at 2155 Kietzke Lane in Reno, NV. Graveside Service will be held on Mon, Nov 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, NV.
