Doris Jean (sic) Slater Dies At Home
Mrs. Doris Jean (sic) Slater of 1513 Lexington Avenue, died at her home Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 a.m. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Slater, 43, was born July 23, 1919, in Rantoul, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence E. and Susie Mumford Funk. She was married to Wilbur L. Slater, December 24, 1935, who survives. She has been a resident of Lawrenceville for the past seven years coming here from Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons: Kelly with the U.S. Air Force in England, William and Stanley at home. Also surviving are the father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Funk of Casey, Ill.; six brothers, Darl, Zionsville, Ind., Robert, Salina, Mich.; Leon, Terre Haute, Merle, Danville, Ind., Kenneth, Long Beach, Calif., Dewey, Indianapolis, and one sister, Mrs. Dwane Daughhetee of Casey.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, and White Shrine.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. with the Dr. C.H. Todd and Dr. Earl U. Yates officiating. Burial will be made in the Casey Cemetery at Casey, Ill.
