Benjamin "B.F." Allen, Sr. age 80 of Sturgis, KY died at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY on Nov 4, 2017 at 12:11 AM. B.F. was born in #1 Camp to Inez Logan and Cross Standford Allen, Sr. B.F. was a member of New Salem Baptist Church for over 60 years. He also attended Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church regularly for the past 5 years. He was named by Mt. Sterling as one of their own. He earned the rightful honor to be called "Mt. Sterling Bapterian". B.F. worked for Island Creek Hamilton #1 Coal Mines for 24-25 years where he later retired. He was the founder of Allen Backhoe and Plumbing Service in 1967. B.F. had an 8th grade education and went to Dunbar School, but he studied on his own and in 1968, December 2nd, he received his registered licenses from the Commonwealth of Kentucky State Department of Health in Frankfort, KY; both his journeyman Plumbers and Master Plumber's licenses. He was the first black man in Union County to accomplish being a plumber, carpenter, and electrician. B.F. honorably served on active duty in the United States Army from Nov 8, 1954 to Nov 7, 1956. He returned back to Sturgis, KY where he later found the love of his life, Andronia Alderman, whom he married and cared for over 58 years until her passing in May 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents Inez Logan & Cross Stanford Allen Sr; wife of 58 years Andronia Allen; son Myron Ray "Chick" Collins; daughter Martha Inez Allen; 6 brothers Cross Stanford, Jr, Cosby Sr., Frederick O'neal, Sr., Joe Louis Sr., Jim Frank, & Irvin Allen.
