Marilyn G. Bowman, 84, of Bellville, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Everyone knows that a woman always gets the last word - so just to prove it - I’m writing my own obit.
It was during the dust bowl in Kansas, year 1933 on June 5th that I blew into Jetmore, Kansas to the home of Bert B. and Wilma (Eggerman) McConachie (both parents now deceased).
There were 3 older siblings, Marvin & Keith (both now deceased) and Madelyn.
When I was three years old, we moved to Missouri - and it was there in a small country church that I made the most important decision of my life when I was 7 years old - to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. That decision has been a lifetime strength to me over the years.
I graduated from Bellville High School in 1951; from Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954; completed Bible School in Hamilton, Montana in 1979; plus a 3 year course from Rhema Bible College in Oklahoma.
On January 7, 1956, I married Dwight F. Bowman who was a fellow classmate from high school, and on February 1, 1957 we started to welcome our children to share our love; Biff 1957, Kip 1958, Ginger 1960, Gil 1961, and Rod 1969.
We lost our daughter, Ginger, in 2001, but our four sons gave us three more daughters when Biff married Vicki Reynolds; Kip married Violet Browning; and Gil married Tari Pfoutz.
These three unions have given us 12 grandchildren and I name them in accordance to their ages; Heath, Thor, Chad, Niki, Lydia, Matthew, Tara, Tyler, Benaiah, Grace, Nathaniel, and Sloan.
The above grandchildren have in turn blessed us with these “greats”; Sierra, Mikayla, Trey, Eric, Kailyn, Seth, Logan, Brandon, Natalie, MaKenzie, and Jozy.
My joy in life has been my family, and teaching young & old alike what I have learned about God’s Word and His Coming Kingdom.
We have traveled a lot in our lifetime, but this trip is one that we have to take alone.
We have experiences ups & downs (like everyone else) but all in all - life has been very good, and God has blessed us greatly.
Ecclesiastes 7:1 says “A good name is Better than precious perfume; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.” And so - with that verse (That I believe to be true) this is my last word, “Hope to see you on the other side.” - Marilyn
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Clearfork Church of the Brethren, St. Rt. 97, between Bellville and Butler, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 OR St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
