In her younger years, Mary was an avid square dancer and loved to roller-skate, so much as acquiring the nick name “One skate go like gypsy down the road” because she learned to roller-skate with just one. After retiring from Singer Climate Control, she was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church and later to Second Baptist Church in Auburn, along with actively involving herself with the Christian Women’s Club and the Salvation Army. Mary enjoyed spending her free time with family and attending the Auburn Double Day’s games.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda M. (Thomas B.) Lupo and Colleen (Rick) Cannizzo of Auburn; a brother, Fred Terino of Auburn; six grandchildren, Tammy (Tim) Ryan, Timothy (Christine) Lupo, Thomas Lupo Jr., Tracey Klock, David W. Smith Jr.(Maggie), and Chelsea Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Nicco, Ellie and Nathanial Lupo, Vassianna and Thomas J. Klock and Sierra Ryan; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband John J. “Jack” Carmody Jr.; twin sister at birth; four brothers, Anthony, Samuel, James and Ralph Terino; two sisters, Louise “Lou” Casamassima and Josephine “Jo” Longley, along with her beloved cat Cutie who you could find walking behind Mary on their daily walks.
Friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30th, 2016 at Brew Funeral Home, with the burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please consider a donation to either the Salvation Army or Fingerlakes SPCA in honor of Mary’s love for both animals and helping others.
A special thank you to both Grace and Mike who continued to be dedicated friends throughout the years, the third-floor staff at Loretto The Commons on St. Anthony, as well as Ronda, Brenda and Maureen who Mary was especially fond of. The family would like to extend a thank you to the Auburn Community Hospital’s ER and ICU staff for their compassion and caring of their mother.
