Maxine Johnson Taylor, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
She was the only daughter of Paul and Lora Runion Johnson and was born April 24, 1937. She was the wife of the late Johnny Taylor. One other son, Shannon Hawkins predeceased her.
Maxine finished Gramling High School and earned a Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina. She retired from SC Vocational Rehabilitation where she worked as a counselor for over 30 years and then went into the field of teaching children where she taught 1st Grade for 20 years. She loved children and worked with them for many years. Her other love was music. She was an accomplished pianist. She went to local nursing homes and performed for the elderly who loved her dearly.
She was also very active in her church. She worked in the Child-Care Program for over 20 years and was active in the Senior Adult Program.
Her other three brothers, Marcus, Carroll and Shelton predeceased her.
She was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg where she was a volunteer for many programs and worked with MOPS and with Children's Choir for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Doug Turner. The family will receive friends immediately following service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens in Roebuck.
