Dennis along with his wife of 44 years, was shot and killed in the Sutherland First Baptist Church shooting that left 26 dead and 20 injured.
He was a church elder and member of the Sutherland First Baptist congregation for more than a decade, a prior member of Floresville First Baptist Church for 25 years, and a veteran of both the U.S. Navy Reserves and the Army National Guard. During his time in the US Navy (1984-1995), Dennis served as a Seabee in Operation Desert Shield and later joined the American Legion, a patriotic veterans association devoted to serving the community and fellow service members.
Dennis and Sara celebrated 44 years of marriage on July 27th. They are survived by their children: James Graham, age 51; Neil Johnson Jr., age 50; Deanna Staton, age 46 (husband Arron); Michael Johnson, age 43; Kati Wall, age 29 (husband Jason); Ryan Johnson, age 28, several beloved grandchildren, and were expecting 4 great-grand children.
