13 Mar 2007: Dr. Michael J. Hricko, 82, State College, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Fairways at Brookline Village. Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Michael and Honorata "Eleanor" Kalczynski Hricko. On May 8, 1954, he married Mary Esther Tritt, who preceded him in death Dec. 26, 2006. He is survived by daughters Michele A. Hricko and her husband, Lorin Kline, Jennifer Hricko and her husband, Rob Kerstetter, and Julie and her husband, William Van Womer; sister Helen and her husband, Alfred Lefkowski; seven grandchildren and one step-grandson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son Stephen M. Hricko, on Feb. 15, 1998. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a physician at Rittenour Health Center at Penn State until he retired in 1988. He received his B.S. in Pre-Med from the University of Scranton in 1949. He received his M.D. from Georgetown University's School of Medicine in 1953 and served his internship at Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital. He practiced general medicine until 1959 in New Cumberland, PA. In 1961, Dr. Hricko completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Guthrie Clinic in Sayre. In March 1968, he assumed the position of Anesthesiologist and Director of the Department of Anesthesia at Centre County Hospital. Prior to his appointment at Centre County Hospital, Dr. Hricko was associated with Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, and with Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill as an anesthesiologist. He was a member of American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologist and Pennsylvania Medical Society. He was a Diplomat of American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of American College of Anesthesiology. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Service Thursday, March 15, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Monsignor David Lockard officiating. Burial at Spring Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. [Centre Daily]
