Last week gives us to record the deaths of two of our oldest citizens, "Uncle" James Bacon and Harvey Booth.
The funeral services of Mr. Booth were conducted at his late residence, by Rev. Charles Fraser and were attended by friends and neighbors in goodly numbers. The body was then taken to the family cemetery at Volo, Lake county, attended by the immediate relatives, where it was laid to rest.

Harvey was the son of Andrew and Hester (Hurd) Booth. He was first married to Mary Amelia Brown on September 1, 1844 in New York. Harvey and Mary moved to Fort Hill in Lake County, IL. They had three children: Flora, born on October 45, 1845 in Starkey, NY, married Frank Llewellyn Gage, She died in Elgin, Kane County, IL on April 26, 1930.; Mary louise, born January 2, 1849 in Fort Hill, IL; and Sarah L. born February 5, 1851 in Fort Hill, IL. Mother Mary died 11 days after the birth of Sarah and is buried in the Fort Hill Cemetery in Lake County, IL.
Harvey married his second wife, Cordelia A. Gale on January 3, 1856 in Richmond, McHenry County, IL. Cordelia was born November 16, 1838. She died in Crystal Lake, McHenry County, IL.
Harvey and Cordelia had six children: Merrit C. born May 7, 1858 and died October 6, 1859 and is buried at the Fort Hill Cemetery; Gaylord Stafford born November 6, 1860 in Richmond, IL and died July 27, 1865; Nellie E. born October 28, 1862, married Hamilton A. Thomas on June 25, 1890 in Kane County, IL and died September 22, 1945 in Woodstock, McHenry County, IL buried at the Oakland Cemetery in Woodstock, IL; Ada E. born June 24, 1867 and died August 20, 1869; Florence Louise born September 24, 1875, married William O. Garrison on June 9, 1897 and died April 3, 1934; Andrew Marshall born February 7, 1878 in Richmond, IL, married Minnie Wagner and died June 8, 1960 in Elgin, Kane County, IL buried in the Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake.
Harvey was a school teacher and a farmer in New York and Richmond, IL. He and his parents and brother, Marshal H. arrived in Lake County, IL in 1848. Marshall married Louisa Huson, daughter of Elijah and Alzada (Taylor) Huson, early settlers in Fort Hill, IL.
