Bruce Clifford Anthony Of Seattle, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the age of 92, following a short illness. Bruce was born in Brooklyn, New York, February 13, 1915. Growing up in Niagara Falls, he graduated from Niagara University, and studied law for 2 years at the University of Buffalo. In 1950, he followed his parents and one of his sisters to the Seattle area. Bruce had worked as a gas station attendant, waiter, social worker, Boeing purchasing specialist, and freelance artist. He retired in 1992 from the Seattle Parks & Recreation Department, where he taught music, dancing, pickle ball, chess, creative writing, drawing & painting at senior centers throughout the area. His jazz band, "The Alley Cats" was a popular fixture at senior's dances during that time as well. Bruce had many passions. In his 40's he bred and trained champion German Shepherds. He loved music and was self taught on the guitar, piano, and drums. A prolific artist, he maintained a booth on Flower Row at the Pike Place Market from 1971 - 1976. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, and had an insatiable curiosity of people, places, and everything life offered. He was a member of Mensa for over 40 years, and Local Secretary for Western Washington in the late 60's. Bruce spent his life committed to a healthy lifestyle and fitness. He loved handball and placed or won in many local and national tournaments over his lifetime, and still played regularly until the end of last year. He will be remembered as a model of kindness, wit, generosity, and living life to the fullest. Surviving are his son, Kevin Bruce Anthony, and his wife, Karen, and grandson, Warren Anthony, all of Bellevue; his dear long time friend, Margaret Milne, of Seattle; stepdaughters, Jacqueline Keating of Taos, New Mexico, and Charlotte Di Cenzo, of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Joyce Caldwell, and her husband, Harry, of Getzville, New York. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 19 at Bayview Retirement Community, 11 West Aloha Street, Seattle. Gifts in memoriam may be sent to the Bayview Manor Foundation, 11 West Aloha Street, Seattle, WA 98119.
