Marica A. James was born on November 26, 1935, to A. W. and Cuba Kyle Arpke in Beatrice, Nebraska. She passed away on October 12, 2017, at her home in Georgetown, Texas.

Marcia attended schools in Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1953. Her ambition was always to be a nurse. She worked at first the Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice and then at the Lutheran Hospital as a nurse aid during her high school years.

On February 22, 1953, she met her husband, C.E. James, and they were married later that year in Sherman, Texas. Marcia and C. E. lived in Highlands, Texas, during the early years of their marriage. In 1959 they moved to Beatrice, where Marcia worked as a nurse at the Beatrice State Home.

In 1963 they returned to Texas, settling in Lake Jackson, and in 1964 Marcia enrolled in Wharton County Junior College School of Nursing.

Marcia worked as an LVN at the Community Hospital in Freeport, Texas (which later became Brazosport Memorial Hospital) from 1965 to until her retirement in 1992.

In 1992 Marcia and C.E. moved to Bokchito, Oklahoma, where they worked together raising cattle, together doing all that entailed, including fixing fences, etc. During the years that C.E. also drove a truck for Russell Thompson, Marcia always rode with him.

Marcia loved to read and bake. She was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. James; her parents, A.W. and Cuba K. Arpke; three brothers, Charles, Walter, and Joseph Arpke; and two sisters, Hazel Arpke and Betty Stahl.

She is survived by one sister, Shirley Clapp; four children, David James, Theresa Kamen, John James, and Charity James; six grandchildren, Sarah Vick, Adaire and Emma-Sabrina Kamen, Brooke Gaddis, and Felicity and Evangeline Proctor; and six great-grandchildren.
