Wanda Louise Corner Crawford, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017. Born June 22, 1931, in Trinity, Texas, Wanda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dale Welborn Crawford, parents William Sylvester Corner and Jettie Lee Murphy Corner, sister Dorothy Lee Corner Brockman, brother Larry Eugene Corner, and sons Alan Ray Crawford and Jeffrey Dale Crawford.

She is survived by sons Gary Michael Crawford and wife Susan Beerbohm Crawford, Richard Wayne Crawford and wife Susan Hill Crawford, grandchildren Eric Dale Crawford, Jeannette Crawford, Lori Ann Crawford, Derek Lee Crawford and Steven Michael Crawford, and great grandsons, Jameson, Jaxon and Jay Slingluff.

Wanda spent her early years living in the small community of Pine Prairie, Texas, just outside of Huntsville, during the Great Depression. In the early forties, during WWII, her parents moved the family to Houston but returned to Huntsville after the war, where Wanda graduated from Huntsville High School in 1949. Shortly after graduation, Wanda moved back to Houston, and soon met the love of her life, Dale Crawford. On January 8, 1955, Dale and Wanda were married. The marriage lasted 61 years and the couple had four sons.

Wanda began her work career as a keypunch operator for Gulf Oil in the fifties. As her family grew, Wanda left Gulf Oil to focus on raising her young sons. In the early seventies, Wanda resumed her career in data processing, spending several years with Houston Northwest Medical Center. In 1980, she joined Anadarko Petroleum as payroll supervisor, retiring from Anadarko in 1986.

Wanda had a variety of interests. She was very artistic and enjoyed oil painting after her retirement. Wanda was an avid reader and a great conversationalist. She enjoyed discussing current events and voicing her opinion, and always had time to listen to a friend or family member. Everyone knew they could always count on Wanda for help or advice. Wanda loved to travel and recently said the one thing she enjoyed most in her life was traveling the country with her beloved husband Dale.

Wanda was a member of Spring Baptist Church and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home with

Interment at Houston National Cemetery.
