(Mrs. Robert) Darlene K. Hanson, age 64, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008 in a Sioux Falls, SD hospital due to medical complications. Funeral mass was held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Joe Forcelle officiating. Blaine Martian was the song leader accompanied by Donna Williams. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Visitation was held on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with a CDA Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel.

Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers were David Peterson, Steven Tschacher, Jon Peterson, Richard Krueger, David Hanson, Brian Benson, Larry Hanson and Mike Benson.

Darlene Katherine Hanson was born on February 6, 1944 to Joseph H. and Katherine B. (Rauen) Tschacher on a farm near Gary, South Dakota. The family moved into Gary in 1950 where Darlene attended school and later worked at the Sports Inn. Darlene moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked at Ravens making coats and jackets.

On May 25, 1968 she married Robert E. Hanson at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Gary, SD. They had one child before moving to Watertown in 1970, and they had three more children. Darlene worked for Minnesota Egg, Interlakes Community Action, Inc. driving bus and Burger King.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, recently began attending Immaculate Conception Church and was a Catholic Daughter of America. Darlene enjoyed being a housewife and mother, sewing quilts, gardening, playing cards, computer games, going on road trips, her toothpick collection, and just life in general. But most of all she enjoyed being a grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Helen Peterson, Elizabeth "Babe" Peterson and one in infancy; and her niece, Beverly Kenyon.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Keith Hanson of Watertown, Barbara (Jim) Formanek of Minot AFB, ND, Cynthia (Todd) Blair of Clark, and Duane (CJ) Hanson of Watertown; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Jeffrey, Ashley, Brittany, Jamie, Samantha, Shelby, Sabrina, Merci and Carson; her twin brother, Joseph (Dorothy) Tschacher of Wayzata, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
