Floyd was a truck driver and first worked in the family business, Harvey R. Shipley and Sons Trucking in Finksburg. He became the owner and operator of Jano Trucking in Silver Run. He loved driving and working in the business. Floyd was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of The Maryland Motor Trucks Association and The Church of the Open Door.
Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Janice, are daughters, Karen Jenkins of Westminster, Connie Taylor and husband Jay of Hebron, MD, and Pamela Poole and husband John of Middletown, MD; son, Floyd K. Shipley, Jr. and fiancée, Christine Beaumont of Hampton, PA; brother, H. Larry Shipley and wife Barb of Westminster; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Gary L. Shipley, and brothers, Herbert and Norman Shipley.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD with Floyd’s son-in-law, Pastor John Poole, officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
