HARRIS, Dan, age 89, husband of VerDree Harris, died October 29, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital.
He was born in Youngstown, OH on May 21, 1928, the son of Dan and Mamie Harris (deceased). Dan was a loyal and dedicated teacher with the Dayton Public School System (DPS) and the Dayton Job Corps. He retired from DPS after over 40 years of service.
Dan was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He loved to sing and he loved his church. He is well-known for his signature phrase “Super, Super, Super”. His inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him.
Besides his loving wife of 60 years, VerDree, he is survived by daughter, Deena Harris Brown; granddaughter, Jade Brown; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Brown and Darius Benford, Jr.; three sisters and two brothers and dear friend Anthony Hopkins.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Peoples Community C.M.E. Church, 2525 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH 45406, Rev. Ian Gibson, Officiant. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
