Abingdon, VA – Gerald “Stretch” Anderson, age 70, passed on Thursday, November 2, 2017, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Gerald was born in Coventry,England, moved to Canada at age three, and moved with his family to Florida when he was a teenager. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was employed as a truck driver for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florrie Roberts Anderson, and brother, Tony Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Delilah Winebarger Anderson; sons, Jimmy Winebarger of Abingdon, VA, Dale Anderson of North Carolina, and Sheldon Mann of North Carolina; daughter, Kelly Houston of Abingdon, VA; brother, Leslie Anderson of Riverview, FL; grandchildren, Tabatha Burke, Christopher Perry, and Micaela Roberts; and great grandchildren, Alaina Perry, Mya Reichenbach, and Christopher Perry, Jr.

He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Media (John) Mitchell of Abingdon, VA ; Paulette Bernabe, of Abingdon,VA; Robin Tiller of Bristol, TN and brother-in-law , Howard "Pete" Henry (Carol)of Abingdon, VA.

Stretch is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a lifetime of close friends who will all miss him.

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. At Mr. Anderson’s request, there will be no service.
