Jediah Cole who died at his home last Friday night at 10:30, was born near Smithfield, Jefferson County, May 19, 1805. The cause of death was Bright's disease. The deceased was one of our best citizens and his death marks the close of a useful life. He is survived by a wife and 8 children. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Bethel last Sunday by Rev. Salmon assisted by Rev. Pringle and were well attended. He was buried in Union Cemetery Uhrichsville.
Note: the obit cites 1805 as the birth year but is likely an error because the mother would have been only 14 if true. Other artifacts vary from 1829 to 1833. Jediah and Tabitha married in 1813.
