Maxine Steele, age 86, passed away at St. Alphonsus in Boise, Idaho on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, after battling a pulmonary disease and pneumonia.
Maxine was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Pingree, ID, and was the daughter of Gerald Wall and Irene (Frank) Wall. Maxine graduated from Wilder High School in 1949. She lived in Pingree until settling in Boise, ID. She attended Boise Junior College for a period of time in 1951 and later got her cosmetology license and worked as a cosmetologist until getting married in 1953 to Coey L. Steele, then became a homemaker.
Survivors include her son Coey L. Steele, Jr., daughters Pam Tinker (husband Bob) and Rikki Young (husband Lane), granddaughters Krista and Bailey Brock, her brother Warren Wall, brother and sister-in-law Larry & Carol Steele, many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Coey L. Steele, granddaughter Selena Borgeman, sister-in-law Barbara Wall, sister and brother-in-law Maurene and Kenny Congrove, sister and brother in-law Norma and James Rea, a niece and a nephew.
Maxine had a quick wit that would bring a smile to your face or give you a good chuckle. She tried to stay active and fit by going to Eagle Fitness at least 3 days a week. She enjoyed playing her organ and taking classes at Dunkley Music in Meridian. She loved gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels, which she thought of as her friends. She had a love and commitment to her faith as a Jehovah's Witness and was a loved member of her congregation. Maxine will be truly missed.
