Carrie Elizabeth Howe Evans Tipple
Galveston—Carrie Elizabeth Howe Evans Tipple, age 101, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 9, 1916 in Gloucester, Massachusetts to Roscoe and Lena Mae Howe. Elizabeth attended Lowell High School in Lowell, Massachusetts. She graduated from Tufts University’s Boston School of Occupational Therapy in 1942, before marrying James J. Evans and eventually moving to Galveston. Elizabeth and James were married for 34 years, before his passing.

Elizabeth married Joseph W. Tipple, Sr., and spent 19 wonderful years with him, before his passing. Elizabeth worked for 20+ years at UTMB as an occupational therapist and instructor. Upon retirement in 1978, she was honored with the title Instructor Emeritus. She loved volunteering her time at her church, First Presbyterian Church in Galveston, especially when it involved sewing projects, as she was a skilled seamstress. Elizabeth will forever be remembered by family and friends, not only for her loving and caring spirit, but also for how she enjoyed teasing and laughing with them.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James J. Evans and Joseph W. Tipple, Sr.; stepson Joseph W. Tipple, Jr.; sister Ellen Hollingworth; brother Clinton Howe; and parents Roscoe and Lena Mae Howe.

She is survived by her daughters Ellen Lanigan and husband Timothy, Lois Albertine and husband Gerard; her sons Clinton Evans and Norman Evans; daughter-in-law Linda Tipple; grandchildren Heathere Evans, Bhavani Simon and husband Thomas, Sara Wyle and husband Noah, Serena David and husband Jordan, Jeremy Evans, David Trahan, and Carrie Sumner and husband Rusty; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.

A memorial service will be held ‪on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, ‪1903 Church Street, Galveston, Texas, with Reverend Ed Wolf officiating.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Texas Home Health Hospice and to the following caregivers: Sheryl, Barbara, Sadie, Mallory and Puda. Your love and care will forever be appreciated.
