Glen L. Ruthrauff, 88, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2017. Glen was born in Hartville on September 2, 1929 to Harold and Minnie (Frederick) Ruthrauff. He graduated from Hartville High School in 1947. On July 15, 1950, he married Ruth Pauline Faber who preceded him in death in 1996. Glen was also preceded in death by infant son, Timmy and brothers and sister-in-law, Harry, Robert and Jane, He is survived by his children, Debbie (Greg) Sturm of Copley, Darrell (Rebecca) Ruthrauff of Uniontown, Mollie (David) Royce of Akron; grandchildren, Seth (Rachel) Ruthrauff, Andrew (Misty) Ruthrauff, Mollie (Matt) Reichenbach, Tim (Marisa) Sturm, Courtney (Dave) Kast, Hannah Sturm, Trevor (Rebekah) Ruthrauff and Jon (Jessie) Brown; great-grandson, Jon Brown; sister-in-law, Ila Ruthrauff and many nieces and nephews.
Glen served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company managing the retread plant, Terre Haute, Chicago, Cleveland and Akron until his retirement in 1986. Glen was a lifetime member of The Chapel in Akron. His favorite activities were boating and spending time with and bragging about his grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Sunday 3 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Schneider officiating. Interment will be in St. Jacob's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Haven of Rest Ministries or The Chapel in Akron.
