Larry N. Pletcher, 78, of Scullton, passed on October 31, 2017 at home. Born September 30, 1939 in Somerset, he is a son of the late Frank and Joanna (Gary) Pletcher. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Olive Hinkle, Brenda Cox, and Patricia Brewer. Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Pritts) Pletcher; daughters Stacey Hay and husband Kevin of Kingwood and Shelby Svokos and husband John of Uniontown; granddaughters Joanna Ringer and Madison Ringer; brothers Frank Pletcher of Somerset and Edmund Pletcher of Hundred, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was a heavy carpenter for Union Local # 2274 .
He worked on many bridges in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. He served his country in the US Army as a medic during his time in Korea to help maintain the peace after the war. He served 4 years in the Reserves afterward. He loved his mountain home, being outdoors, hunting, and working in his yard. He loved talking and sharing stories about his family over a cup of strong, black coffee. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his grand-dog “Bob Barker”. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Rockwood, where a service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM, Pastor Boyd Race officiating. Interment with full military honors by the Somerset County Honor Guard will be at Barron Church Cemetery in Barronvale.
