Funeral services will be held Saturday November 11 at 11:00 am at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery near Randall.
David was born on January 17, 1925 in Randall, Iowa to Clarence and Jennie Larson. He was baptized at Elim Lutheran Church Elim remained his home Church. Growing up along with siblings, David helped on the farm. After graduating from Randall High School,
David served in the U.S. Army as a member of the B-16 Airborne Division, stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia, trained as a paratrooper, he also had the privilege of playing baseball and basketball on the base.
He married Judith Braland on January 24, 1953 and were blessed with two sons, Nick and Gary.
David enjoyed the farming life and seemed at home driving tractors, attending to the livestock and building sheds.
He was a humble man of God, generous of spirit, and a man of kind gentleness and strength of character. His family remembers his love for life, his childlike play and teasing with others, and especially his infectious giggles that would get the whole Larson clan going. David was a very active person all of his life. David and Judy enjoyed dancing and attended all the Iowa State University athletic events. David was an avid golfer and loved to ice skate.
David and Judy had a memorable 64 years marriage of love and devotion.
He is survived by his wife Judy at home. Nick (Lori) Larson of Randall; Gary (Ruth) Larson of Vancouver, WA. Grandchildren Katie (Andy) Nygaard of Granger, IA; Erin (Tyler) Christiansen of Ankeny, IA; Jonah, Hannah, Marta, and Gracia Larson of Vancouver, WA. Three Great-Grandchildren, Adelyn and Ethan Nygaard of Granger, IA and Landon Christiansen of Ankeny, IA. One Brother, Lawrence (Joanie) Larson of Slater, IA. Sister-in-law, Louise Larson of Moline, IL and Brother-in-law, Ralph McDowell of Walnut Creek, CA. Along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clinton Larson, and sister, Betty McDowell and Thelma Pottoff.
