Fred Ray Wade, 80, of Woodcreek, TX, passed away peacefully, September 11, 2017 at Central Texas Medical Center.
A time of remembrance will be held from 3pm - 5pm Friday, September 15, at Chapel in the Hills in Wimberley, TX. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 16 beginning 1pm, at Chapel in the Hills, Reverend James Denham officiating, with reception immediately following. Burial will follow at Wimberley Cemetery.
Fred was born on August 26, 1937 in Henderson, Texas to P. W. and Estell Wade. He graduated Valedictorian from Carlisle High School in Price, Texas in 1955, attended Tyler Junior College until 1957, graduated from Texas Christian University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, and attended University of Texas Law School until 1962.
Fred married the former Patsy Jo Pitzer of Breckenridge, Texas on December 29, 1960. Together they raised their three children (Kristie, Kimberly, and Patrick) in Corpus Christi, Texas until moving to Wimberley, Texas in 2000. Fred and Pat were active members of their church in Wimberley, Chapel in the Hills, where Fred served as Treasurer.
Fred earned the Certified Public Accountant license in 1967 and maintained a prolific career until his passing. His respective positions include: Fred R. Wade, CPA in Woodcreek, Texas; Owner and President—Histo Path, Inc. in Corpus Christi, Texas; President—South Texas Laboratory Services, Inc. in Corpus Christi, Texas; and Managing Partner—LSW Properties in Wimberley, Texas. He maintained membership in many professional organizations, as well, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Corpus Christi Chapter of Certified Public Accountants.
Fred held many offices, boards, committees, and memberships in his lifetime, such as: President of Corpus Christi Chapter of Certified Public Accountants (1974-75); Member of Texas Society of CPAs Professional Ethics Committee for 34 years, longer than any CPA in state history, serving as Vice Chairman (1966); Member of Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers Board of Directors (1981-2000) and Chairman (1998-99); President of Corpus Christi Bay Kiwanis Club (1974-75); President of Pharaohs Country Club (1974-75); Founder and Past President of Coastal Bend Junior Golf Association; Board Member of Samaritan Counseling Center of Corpus Christi; Board Member and Coach of Oso Youth Soccer League; Board Member and Coach of American Baseball Little League; Member and Treasurer of Woodcreek Men’s Golf Association; Deacon of Travis Baptist Church, Corpus Christi, Texas; Member of Chapel in the Hills Church, Wimberley, Texas; and Elected Treasurer of Chapel in the Hills Church (2007-17).
Fred served his community and country in the following ways: United States Air Force Reserve, Staff Sergeant (1960-66); Elected to City of Woodcreek, Texas City Council (2003) and Reelected (2005); and Mayor Pro Tem of City of Woodcreek, Texas (2005-06). In his lifetime, he was honored with the Honorary Fellows Award by Corpus Christi Chapter of CPAs for “long term outstanding commitment and consistent service” (1995), Honorary Lifetime Board of Directors by Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers for “outstanding service and dedication” (2000), and Honorary Lifetime Member by Woodcreek Men’s Golf Association for “outstanding service and dedication” (2005).
Loving husband, father, and grandfather. Fred was truly a self-made man, generous, kind, and a friend to so many through his life. He never hesitated to help those in need, and could always be counted on in need.
Fred is predeceased by his parents and sister, Lillian Spence. He is survived by sister Madean Suber in Henderson, Texas. In addition, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Wade, and children Kristie Kay (Steve) Manion in Lockhart, Texas, Kimberly Jo (Kevin) Swan in Houston, Texas, and Patrick Ray (Jessica) Wade in Moody, Texas. Finally, he is survived by grandchildren Hannah Ray Manion, Jonathan Lee (Kelly) Manion, Sarah Kay Manion, William Rud Swan, Joseph Wade Swan, Lyric Ray Wade, Shamgar Conlan Wade, Rainie Lynn Wade, Liam Kaiden Wade, and many nieces and nephews.
