JUNCTION CITY - Virginia Collins Hammons, 88, of Junction City died Saturday, May 23, 2009. Born March 11, 1921, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Maggie Toadvine Collins. She was retired from the housekeeping department of Wuesthoff Memorial Hospital in Rockledge, Fla., and the widow of Clyde F. Hammons Sr. Survivors include eight sons, Jack Hammons of Irvine, Charles (Betty) Hammons of Cocoa, Fla., Jerry (Janice) Hammons, of Junction City, Clyde Hammons Jr., of Rockledge, Fla., Raymond (Annette) Hammons of Cocoa, Fla., Robert (Terri) Hammons, Glenn Hammons and David (Renee) Hammons, all of Junction City; a sister, Leatha Ball of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 36 great -grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Burial will be in McDonald Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City . The family requests donations to Heritage Hospice.
