Wayne Buck, 67, of Mitchell, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Menno Olivet Care Center in Menno, SD. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017 at Mitchell First United Methodist Church with a burial at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Sunday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service.
Wayne Allan Buck was born March 22, 1950 in Valley City, ND to Earl and Florence (Bruns) Buck. He graduated LaMoure High School in LaMoure, ND. He attended North Dakota State College of Science and studied Automotive Technology. He started managing Kentucky Fried Chicken in the Fargo area. From traveling with KFC he met his wife, Belinda Sue Schmit. On May 10, 1978 the couple married in Ponchatoula, LA. They moved to Mitchell in 1978, and opened the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant in Mitchell in 1978.
He was a member of the Jaycees, First United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 75, and was an associate of KFC Franchisee.
He is survived four children: Bridget Neugebauer of Ponchatoula, LA, Kathy Buck of Ethan (Josh Franks), John Buck and wife, Amanda of Sioux Falls, and Mark Buck of Mitchell; five grandsons: Taylor and Thomas Buck, Kade and Ethan Neugebauer, and James Franks; a granddaughter, Megan Buck; sisters Carol Staiger and Linda (Johnny) Mann; brother Rodney (Linda) Buck; sister-in-law Nancy Buck.
He was preceded in death by his wife Belinda in 2009; parents; sister Sharon; brother Donald; and brothers-in-law Terry and Chet.
