Jackie Lee Chaney, 72, of Owensburg, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Oct. 3, 1934 in Owensburg, he was the son of William O. and Lenora (Smith) Chaney. He was co-owner of C&H Stone Company in Bloomington, and was a farmer in Owensburg. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict, and a member of the VFW Post 1686 of Oolitic.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years Sharon (Payne) Chaney; five sons, Larry and Aaron Chaney, both of Owensburg, Kent Chaney and his wife, Teri, of Bloomfield, Garry Chaney and his wife, Karen, of Bloomfield, and Andy Chaney and his wife, Mary, of Springville; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Jacob, Julia, Jessie, Casey, Chelston, Austin, MaKayla, and Adrienne; one step-grandson, Evan; one brother, Jerry Chaney and his wife, Donna, of Williams; two sisters, Wanda Jenkins and her husband, Bill, of South Bend, and Kay Hudson and her husband, Jack, of Ellettsville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William Orval, Kenny, and Dennis.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, with the Rev. Kenny Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by members of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.
