Tommie Worth Wood passed away peacefully November 1, 2017, at his home in San Antonio after battling cancer.

Tommie was born March 3, 1937 to D.B. and Frances Wood of San Saba, Texas.

He graduated from San Saba High School and attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in education that spanned 40 years, spending most of his career at Northside Independent School District.

Tommie married Bobby Cowey of Nixon, Texas on April 16, 1965. They made a life together in San Antonio with their two children, Roe Ann and Thomas Riley.

Tommie had a deep passion for history, investing a lifetime learning and teaching American and Texas histories. He was an active member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Historical Society of San Saba and the Fellowship of San Antonio.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Bobby; daughter, Roe Ann Estevez; son, Thomas (Ty) Wood; granddaughters Grace Wood and Tesla Estevez; grandson, Jacob Wood and sister Joyce Wells of Stephenville, Tx.
