Bruce E. Wallace, Jr.
(May 19, 1944 - October 30, 2017)

U.S. Veteran
On the evening of Monday, October 30, 2017, at 6:10 p.m., in the Hampton VA Medical Center Palliative Care, God called our beloved Bruce Edward Wallace, Jr., to rest in his Heavenly Home. His earthly journey began on May 19, 1944, son of the late Marion and Bruce Wallace, Sr.

Just as unique as his birth at home, Bruce was an engaging, innovative, intelligent man with a vast range of abilities and interests. He served four years in the United States Army and is a Vietnam War veteran. He retired from the City of Newport News as a supervisor of heavy equipment services and repair. His love for cars is quite evident as he continued to utilize his skills as a mechanic throughout his adult life. While he loved cars, his passion was for the open road. As an owner-operator for Allied Van Lines, Bruce saw all the states of the United States and shared stories of the beauty of U.S. with his family. During the latter years of his life, Bruce enjoyed retirement by working on cars, renovating a house, and spending time with family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters Alma, Katherine, and Alberta. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Denelle Wallace-Alexander (Al); his sons, Todd Wallace, Sr. (Latonya) and Derek Wallace, Sr. (Letitia); his grandchildren; his sister, Theresa Wallace Casper; his former wife, Rochelle Jones Wallace; nieces, nephews, countless family and friends.

There will be a Gathering of Friends at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, in Whiting’s Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

Professional services entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185.
