Gloria "Susie" Anne Spencer Barrett of Carthage, NC, was born on September 8, 1962 in Pinehurst, North Carolina to Norman Lee Barrett Sr. and the late Martha Lee Barrett.
She was called home on Sunday October 29, 2017 at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care in West End, NC.
Gloria was preceded in death by her brothers, Demetrius Barrett and Claudius Barrett, and her grandsons, Patrick Person Jr., and Ventrail Jenkins.
Gloria was christened at Long Leaf A.M.E. Zion Church in Robbins, NC at an early age. As a child, she attended Long Leaf A.M.E. Zion Church as well as Zion's Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Eagle Springs, NC. In recent times, she attended Try Jesus Ministries and Recovery Room Ministries.
Gloria attended North Moore High School in Robbins, NC. Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed completing word puzzles in her spare time.
Gloria will always be remembered as a strong woman. She was diagnosed with a rare form of stage four Breast Cancer in 2014; she was later diagnosed with stage four Brain Cancer in 2016.
She remained humble as she endured such pain. Gloria's devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Gloria was blessed with a large and loving family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Norman Lee Barrett Sr. of Raeford, NC; children, Victor Barrett of Carthage, NC, Veronica Barrett- Munnerlyn (Fredrick) of the home, Terrence Smith of Boston Massachusetts, Terese Barrett (Keyona) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Alexia Jones, Sashay Thompson, Alani Barrett, Sebastian Grubbs, & Brooklyn Smith; siblings, Tyrone Spencer (Jeanette), Jane Baker (Levern), Robert Barrett, Norman Barrett Jr., Kenneth Barrett (Patricia); life partner, Wilson Smith, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
