Moore, Lynda Talley, passed away on November 29, 2014. Lynda was born on May 15, 1961 and grew up in East Moline, Illinois with her parents, Susan and Cliff Talley, and her brother, Jay Talley. After graduating from United Township High School in East Moline in 1979, she received an academic/athletic scholarship from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She majored in Advertising and Communications and achieved the status of All-American in both Volleyball and Basketball while attending St. Ambrose. After graduation in 1983, Lynda's accomplishments at St. Ambrose were honored with the ultimate recognition of being inducted into the St. Ambrose athletic Hall of Fame.
In 1985 Lynda moved to Sarasota, Florida where she met her husband to be Richard (Jody) Moore. Their professional careers took them to Fort Lauderdale, FL where they were married. Of her numerous lifetime achievements, one of her more notable professional accomplishments include serving at the Corporate Headquarters of Alamo (Car Rental) as the Company's Vice President of Advertising, where she helped Alamo build its footing on the national landscape. Corporate successes aside, Lynda's next chapter in life resulted in her dreams being fulfilled in her role as a devoted mother, wife and community leader.
In 1991 Lynda and Jody began their family with the birth of their first child, Elizabeth and followed by Richard Joseph III (RJ), Mary Katherine, and Ryan Moore. Lynda's admitted most important role in life was being the mother of their four children and her success as a devoted parent is apparent considering the academic and athletic achievements of their children. Her oldest child Elizabeth attends Northwestern University (Chicago, IL) and oldest son, RJ is a starter for the men's water polo team at Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA) with the youngest two, Mary Katherine and Ryan, playing girls basketball and baseball respectively, at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
As a very active community member, Lynda selflessly volunteered for numerous events and functions at St. Anthony Catholic School. Some of Lynda's charitable roles included past president of the Fort Lauderdale Charity Guild, an active board member of St. Anthony Foundation for Education (SAFE), a Eucharist Minister at St Anthony Catholic Church and also an active volunteer for the Children's Diagnostic Treatment Center (CDTC). Lynda was truly selfless, and pursued any role where she saw an opportunity to better her community for her family and friends, and as a result, has fostered countless friendships in the Fort Lauderdale area. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit, love, friendship and support will be remembered by so many who were touched by her light. May she forever rest in peace in God's loving embrace.
Lynda's immediate survivors include her husband Richard Joseph; children Elizabeth, RJ, Mary Katherine and Ryan; parents Susan Kirik (mother), Jack Kirik (step father), Linda Talley (step mother) and her brother Jay. She was preceded in death by her father, Cliff Talley, who passed in August 2010. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December3, 2014 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. A Mass will follow at 4:00 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, 820 NE 3rd St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
