Mrs. Elizabeth Wessels Mead died at her home on Maple Avenue this morning at 1:50 o'clock. Death was due to diabetes of which Mrs. Mead had been a sufferer for several years, although she has been confined to her bed for only the past week.
Mrs. Mead was born near Sprout Brook, March 9, 1839.
Later the family moved to Craneville and most of her life was spent in that vicinity.
After her marriage on January 27, 1858, to Henry Mead, she resided in Glenville, later moving to Syracuse, from which city the family came to Fultonville.
Five years ago Mr. Mead was killed while crossing the New York Central tracks at Fonda.
Mrs. Mead was a member of the reformed church of this village and held the respect and friendship of all who knew her. She was also a member of the parliamentary school.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank Van Valkenburgh, of this place, and a son, William Mead, of Waterford; two grandchildren, Mrs. James, of Amsterdam and Franklin Mead, of Waterford.
The funeral will be held at her home Saturday afternoon, the Rev. E.B. Irish officiating.
