Barbara E. Whittaker age 82, February 18, 2015 a resident of Warren, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Barbara was born September 19, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, beloved wife of Thomas Jr., dear mother of Tom Whittaker, Kim Carl, Eric (Dena) Whittaker, Pat Whittaker and Dan Whittaker. Loving grandmother of Nick, Emily and Olivia, sister of the late Lenore Nicholas, the late Lois Morelli, the late Joyce Spatafora and the late Edward Guerin. Barbara graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Windsor, Ontario (1947 - 1950), University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Science in Education (1954-1963) and she also attended St. Francis Xavier and Mercy College. Barbara was a nun for 13 years (1950 - 1963), Sister Edward Mary Guerin, Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (Ontario Canada). Barbara was a stay at mother of five children (1966-1976) she was a substitute teacher (Warren Consolidated) School System, she also worked at Beaumont Hospital in the Billing Department and for H & R Block (Administration) and at St. Louise de Marillac Church as a church secretary and sacristan. Barbara was a member of Pearl Lean PTA and also served as vice president, she was also a Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts den mother, den leader, coach and day camp leader. Barbara also taught Catechism and was also on the parish council at St. Louise de Marillac Church, and was a member of the Catholic Women Archdiocese of Detroit, Region 1 Vice-President. Barbara also enjoyed family fun, games golfing, bowling, tennis, the summer cottage in Canada along with travel. Barbara received the Warren Jaycees Distinguished Service Award (1976). Visitation Will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 2:30 - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary Friday 6:00 p.m. Edward Swanson & Son 30351 Dequindre Madison Heights, Michigan 48071. Instate Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass 9:30 a.m. St. Louise de Marillac 2500 E. 12 Mile Road Warren, Michigan 48092. Interment Resurrection Cemetery Clinton Township, Michigan.
