Joel Earl Taylor, 77, of Atlanta passed away on July 23, 2012 due to Alzheimers. He was born on August 25, 1934 in Atlanta to Richard and Virginia (Reed) Taylor and they preceded him in death. Earl will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his acts of kindness, compassion, generosity, honesty and integrity. He attended USC and Oglethorpe Universities and also was an Army veteran. He co-owned and operated Metro Auto Parts for many years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pam Taylor; 4 daughters, Sherry Taylor, Terry (Stuart) Gallacher, Amy (Steve) Ellis, Missy (Stokes) Janney; grandchildren, Brook, Paden, Macie, Summer, Casey, Joel and a good friend - "his buddy" Anne Barr. Also surviving is his brother, Ira (Shirley) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank all our wonderful friends for their love and support. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 26 in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons. The interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. Those desiring memorials may contribute to the Alzheimer's Foundation. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7 PM at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
