CRAWFORD, Neb. — Betty (Kaiser) Paulsen passed away July 17, 2016, at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford. She was 86. Betty was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Sherman County, Neb., to Oscar B. and Ruth Edythe (Caddy) Kaiser.
She graduated from Loup City High School in 1947 and from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hastings, Neb., in 1953. She married John Dean Paulsen on Sept. 20, 1953, in Loup City, Neb., where they started their family.
John’s work for Nebraska Public Power District took the family to Scotia, Minatare, Crawford, Rushville and back to Crawford.
She put her nursing career on hold to raise their children, but she returned to nursing and cared for patients at Crawford Community Hospital and Ponderosa Villa, where she was director of nurses.
She and John devoted their lives to their children, their church and their community. Grandma Betty was known for her steadfast devotion to her faith and to helping others, whether in her nursing work or pitching in at the United Methodist Church, in women’s Bible studies, at the Senior Citizens Center or on the Ponderosa Villa Board.
