Richard was employed as an iron worker for most of his life for companies such as Harrison and Burrowes Bridge in Glenmont, NY.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Richard loved his dog, Buddy; he was truly his best friend.
He is survived by his son, Richard Elkenburgh; sister-in-law; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his brothers, Ronald Hayes, Howard Hayes Jr.; sisters, Patricia Rose, Gloria Sitterly.
Interment will be at Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville, NY.
